AUST Montessori Academic Curriculum

AUST Montessori focuses on five key areas: Practical Life, Sensorial, Mathematics, Language, and Culture. This curriculum is designed to foster independence, self-directed learning, and a love for learning through hands-on activities and a prepared environment. Children progress at their own pace, exploring materials and concepts as they are ready.

A detailed breakdown of each area:

Practical Life

Focuses on developing independence and self-care skills through activities like dressing, preparing snacks, and caring for plants and animals.

Sensorial

Helps children refine their senses (sight, touch, smell, taste, sound) through activities with specially designed materials.
Develops discrimination, observation skills, and concentration.
Examples include color tablets, geometric solids, and sound cylinders.

Mathematics

Introduces mathematical concepts through hands-on materials that make abstract ideas concrete.
Children learn number recognition, counting, basic operations, and eventually move on to more complex concepts like geometry and fractions.
Materials include counting beads, number rods, and spindle boxes.

Language

Focuses on developing oral language, phonics, reading, and writing skills.
Uses sandpaper letters, movable alphabets, and other materials to make learning fun and engaging.
Children gradually progress from learning letter sounds to forming words and sentences.

Culture

Explores a wide range of subjects like geography, science, history, music, and art.
Introduces children to different cultures, countries, and aspects of the natural world.
Examples include land and water globes, flag puzzles, and life cycle puzzles.
